 CONCEPT

Founded in 1986 by longtime U.S. media expert Robert E. Richer, International Media Consulting (IMC) began solely as a radio consultant to emerging radio stations outside of the United States.

FIRST BUSINESS

IMC's first client job was a turnkey operation for a brand new FM radio station in Nice, France, RADIO MEMORY. This station was controlled by an American, Arthur Birsh, the owner of PLAYBILL magazine, a publication familiar to Broadway theatergoers.

IMC was retained to acquire programming, studio space, equipment and staff for this, the first English-language radio station in France.

Arthur Birsh

"I know of no individual that even rivals Mr. Richer's encyclopedic knowledge of all facets of radio. He has brought creativity and ingenuity to each varied challenge

MOVING ON

IMC was then retained by Thomas A. Stoner, then Chairman of privately held Stoner Broadcast Systems, to explore investment opportunities for Stoner in Europe.

Together, IMC and Stoner analyzed radio possibilities in France, Italy, Germany and the UK. This resulted in Stoner's sizable investment into the UK's Metro Radio Group plc.

OTHER ACTIVITIES

With the realization that there were many other opportunities for brokering investments in foreign media, IMC became involved in the sale of an equity stake in a UK satellite company to ABC Radio, the negotiation of the sale of worldwide radio rights of THE FINANCIAL TIMES, the sale of part of a Country Music license in London to U.S. broadcaster NewCity Communications, and the sale of a Belfast FM station to UK investors.

IMC acted as an advisor to U.S. studio equipment leader, Pacific Research & Engineering on its worldwide expansion plans, and acted as an advisor to U.S. ratings company, Arbitron, which was seeking international growth. Recent activities include the sale of a five station radio group in Belgium, an FM station in Prague and a U.S. owned radio group in Spain.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Current projects include the sale of broadcast licenses in Italy, Belgium, Lithuania, France and Spain.
